Beavers!
I lied - no beavers - but here is a typical wetland scene with half a dozen beaver lodges poking out of the water.

The Prairies
The potash mines are over a kilometre deep underground. The pink, salt deposits are removed, leaving vast caverns, and are stored in huge piles which can be seen from miles away.

Saskatoon
Getting off to stretch our legs twice a day was a pleasant change. This shot gives a good feel for the length of the train ... this is the second half.

Getting Ready to Leave
After check-in, we passed the time keeping an eye on our luggage and watching a man with a stick wash the viewing dome windows!
Medicine Lake
The next day, we drove up the canyon to Maligne Lake. This is actually Medicine Lake where we saw the grizzly family on the shore.
Icefield Parkway
The drive from Jasper to Banff is via the Parkway - a tourist road through the massive Jasper National Park. We drove half of it to visit the glaciers.
Outside Jasper
The devastation from the fires is very much evident and we were told it will take a generation to recover. In the background, you can see that the fires spread right up the mountains to the very tree ...
Town Square Jasper
All of Jasper is neat, tidy and very tranquil - at this time of year!
