Every summer for the last 50 years, Miss Fay (Oriental's oldest resident at 100 years young) has hosted a watermelon party for the town on her front lawn. It would be rude not to join in. When we first arrived in Oriental 6 weeks ago, Miss Fay and her daughter Irma-fay stopped us on the road and invited us over to see their snapping turtles!
